Youth Law

Youth Court
Delinquency Charges
School discipline cases
Young people face draconian consequences in schools and in the Juvenile Justice System for what is normal adolescent behavior.
Students are suspended and even expelled for minor infractions.  Our schools should be focused on educating students; ensuring they have every tool they need to succeed.

Being suspended or expelled from school can have life long consequences for your child. Every time a school suspends a child they are reducing that students chances of success.

Every young person needs a lawyer on his side in the youth court. Before your child goes to Youth Court, you need to know the consequences of a delinquency adjudication. Bear Atwood can help your child navigate the Juvenile Justice system .

If your child has a disciplinary hearing, or has a Youth Court charge pending, please do not hesitate to contact our office for a case evaluation.
Non-Profit Law
501 (c) (3) Formation
Grant Compliance
Board of Directors
Non-profit rules for advocacy to public policy makers
By-laws and Employee handbooks

Non-Profit organizations play a crucial role in Mississippi.  From serving people in need to advancing the arts, non-profit organizations are leading the way in Mississippi.   The rules are complex, and non-profits are increasingly scrutinized for legal compliance.

Does your Board of Directors need a refresher on the roles and responsibilities of board members?   Are you complying with the laws that regulate lobbying?  Have  you updated your mission statement and bylaws to reflect changes in your organization?

Bear Atwood, Attorney at Law, PLLC can assist you in starting out right with non-profit formation or bring your current organization into compliance with current law.
People often forget that most non-profit organizations are subject to the same anti-discrimination laws as for profit corporations.  Do you do a yearly training on sexual harassment, disability law, and anti-discrimination law?  Our law firm can provide training to administration, staff, and volunteers on their responsibilities and rights under current law, and give you a preview on where the law is headed.

Contact our office today for more information about legal issues training or for a free initial consultation.
